Development/Applications Chemist

Summary:

We are currently looking for an individual to join our Film Laminating Group that produces adhesives, coatings, and sealants for the food, medical, and industrial packaging industries.

Description:

Key functions:
-Responsible for development of new, or modification of existing, systems to meet customer/market requirements
-Contribute to product development from the bench through commercialization in customer facilities.
-Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including travel and work on customer equipment.

Required:
-A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering
-Experience in formulating, testing, and development of coatings and adhesives used in converting flexible substrates, such as PET, OPP, PE, etc. as well as woven and nonwoven fabrics and other flexible substrates.
-Experience with urethane and polyester chemistry for adhesives and coatings.
-Independent, self motivated worker
-Clear verbal and written communication skills
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
-Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
-An enthusiastic, proactive team player capable of managing programs, supervising others, and interacting with customers.

Desirable:
-Knowledge of, and experience with, coating and laminating processes and equipment, such as gravure coating, wet and dry bond lamination, etc.
-Working knowledge of regulations for food, medical, and industrial packaging, such as FDA, TSCA, etc.
-Good computer skills, i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
